A success story: 4 years ago we went to Krui, Lampung, Sumatra, Indonesia to do a survey of Tanjung Setia Beach. The next year they hosted a World Qualifying Series 1,000 event, the year after they upgraded to a World Qualifying Series 1,500 event, then a World Qualifying Series 3,000 event with more than 150 foreign surfers from more than 20 different countries.
As a point of reference, a World Qualifying Series Event 3,000 is the 4th biggest category of professional surfing event in the World. The Krui area and especially Tanjung Setia Beach has now experienced an average of 23% year on year tourism growth in 3 years.
